Evo IV GSR Restore/Revive
Great restoration! Working on cars that have been driven in salt for yrs is a pain in the a$$! I picked up a 2006 White RS last year which was a daily driver for the previous owner. Close to 7 yrs of winter duty...uhhh...

Cheers dude!
And so! the build goes on.
The car was unfortunately away for a bit since the last picture at the German authorities to get all the TüV paper/certificate etc done... what a disaster. I went to the wrong inspector..

Apparently they needed "time" to check everything and find all the data or something to make sure the vehicle is safe. Long (painful) story cut short, I have the car back but they still cocked a few tiny details
... (which are being worked out at the moment). What s**ts me off the most is the car came back with like 1400 km+ on the odometer.. and was away for like 4+ months.. and it was spotted by some other evo pilots here in Germany in January on the weekend at a restaurant (WTF?! is my car doing at a restaurant on the weekend, they should be doing there job and doing the paperwork)... worse.. worse then that and what really f**ked me up the wall.. was upon receiving the car back.. briefly to swap a few things (lights and so on to EU standard) I found a water bottle inside, a dogs cover on the back seat and strands of hair from what looks to me blonde female in my car

And they say it was just "sitting" at the centre the whole time (yeah BS).. i.e. the 1000 km+ comes from joyriding my machine around the country in winter on the salty roads

(ok controls self I'm all good now
)Anyhow thats just life you make mistakes and you learn from them.
So back to the car

The boot was covered in zinc spray, was then covered with undercoat, then 2 coats of black and 2 coats of clear coat. Unfortunately it was a bit cold during painting so there a few cracks in the black layer
but covered up with the clearcoat now

The next step will be to put in the DIYed foam insert and cover up the boot floor with some carpet.
Thanks for the encouragement
Yeah its really sad seeing such cars being abused and ridden till its just a rusted shell... its a lot of effort/time/money (in some cases sometimes its better to save up more money and get a car in better condition but the enjoyment and feeling of bringing it back to life is priceless
Thanks dude
man... cars with no zinc coating on winter roads is a recipe for disaster... oh boy I feel and know the pain.
Cheers dude!

i would be raging for days on end, is there anything you can do about it though? they technically not suppose to be driving your car, if you got proof of the odometer gained 1400+ miles on it since you brought to inspection, they could get in trouble for it but I'm not sure how the laws are in Germany

Cheers bud!
