Jdm double din dash size?

Hey guys. Im looking to do the double din radio swap. I have already started the hvac relocation but i havent bought the jdm double din trim piece yet. I found it for sale on japanparts.com but im not sure how large the opening is so i dont know how big of an indash touch screen i should get. Does anyone have any ideas or insight? Thanks in advance guys

If you buy a double din head unit of any sort it will fit, unless you are trying to do something else like an iPad mini installed or something else custom.

I got the same double din kit from that same site. I don't know the exact size of the opening but I can vouch for a quality product. Any double din radio touch screen thing SHOULD be fine.

Also if you don't mind, where did you pick up an HVAC relocation kit?

I actually fabricated it myself. I found the original hvac piece and an extra cubby hole for the bottom and did a little cuttig and fabbing and voila haha

any tablet or screen thats 7" will work. i highly recommend going with a tablet over a double din unit because of ease of installation and price. im running a kindle fire hd for $200. i am also using the japanparts surround piece and recommend the textured one over the silver mr piece.

Awesome thank you. I wish i could find the orbital top piece because i love how it has the awning over the top. Did you need to buy an outer piece for the headunit to close up any gap between the headunit and the dash trim? And how would i mount a tablet? Im not sure how that all would work?

i made a bracket to hold the radio but the gap is minimal any less and it might have a problem flipping down.. there are many threads involving "CARputers"

2 small s brackets and some hot glue and my tablet has been in for over a year with zero issues.

the double din is outdated, harder to install, more expensive, horrible screen when compared to a tablet, and requires a battery source as opposed to having its own. i have zero wait time as soon as i turn my key my tablet turns on to the home screen. you should do some more research especially if your worried about glare. the new tablets are designed to work in the sun while the double din screen will be hard to see anything.

i dont have any of the back side but all i did was take 1/2 inch flat steel and make 2 square S shaped brackets on the back of the tablet. previous owner screwed up the dashboard trying to remove his radio. he was an idiot.
