well the 925 has a sub out and the 897 doesn't supposedly (not in the listing)....you might want to take that into consideration. i thionk the 925 is better all around. also do nOT buy from crutchfield...they are way too overpriced.

no i'm not buying from crutchfield... just used them for the pics and details of the two.... my buddy owns a shop and i'm getting it at his cost.... just wanted to know if anyone has it installed in their evo....
but yeah i asked him to get me a price on the x-879... it seems to be the better of the two......

I have the KDC-X569 along the with the Music Keg and I like them both very much. If I were to buy again, I would still go Kenwood.

I love kenwood head units, however I have an older model with the motorized D-mask and I had problems with the motor. Make sure you get a warranty from where ever you buy it. It'll save you a lot of money in the future. Free repairs are always good. Other than that, Kenwood rules

I don't like that you have to have the thing open to see all the goodness going on (display)
but it plays MP3's and WMA dics....

I have the X879. Overall I like it, but it would look better located in the lower spot instead of the factory headunit location. It does have a sub out. The sound is good and it has a lot of sound tuning features. I think the only thing it didn't have from the X979 is the DSP and dolby pro logic II. I'd recommend it over pioneer.
