to not wash is better?

I have a theory, the more you wash your car and in my case black, the more swirls you are going to have, even if you do the two buckets, the woolen mit and everything else. So i'm only washing when it really needs it, sure it might not sparkle but the paint will stay unscuffed longer.

Thats my theory

There's no point in having great paint if your car is rarely cleaned. Also if you get your car detailed by a professional detailer, you won't see any swirls in a the paint when he's done. You should be able to keep it that way for some time.

My detailer agrees with you OP. Just keep the car out of the weather when possible so there is no need to wash and then just use one of these when it gets dusty:

...says the guy with a TB evo...lol. You live in aussie so of course you would be pissed off everytime your nicely clean TB gets a coat right after a quick drive. You might be a candidate for clear protection film ;the self healing on.

Provided the car is not your daily and you have a garage to park it in, then I don't see what's so insane about it. And dusting it off takes like 3 min of your time.

I might get that duster because the morning after I wash the car it's already covered by crap from the trees and lawn mowers.

I do the rinseless wash too, now there's a new one that includes a wax coat which I'll try when I run out of the blue stuff. http://www.autogeek.net/no-rinse-wash-and-wax.html

You need a foam gun. Foam the dry car with a Ph balanced soap, let it dwell for 5 minutes, pressure wash then go about washing with 2 buckets as normal. It removes all the heavy stuff and heavily reduces chances of swirls. Its good fun and you'll never wash your car again without it.
