Alright. I have been hunting and searching for a while and just cannot find what I am looking for.

I am currently building a competition car, mostly hillclimb and track day. it is a 2005. Any street use I would jsut swap back to my OEM wheels/tires. So, what I am trying to do is stuff as much tire under the car without having to cut or do really serious surgery, rolling fenders im totally fine with, the rest I am sure can be done, but less is more and all that.

I am debating a set of 18x9.5 or 18x10 RPF1s +38 offset, and use spacers as needed.

Now, I see a bunch of stuff on 18x10.5 but not much on 18x10, I wanted to see if something 10 wide can actually fit. The plan is currently if its a 9.5 I'll run 275 Hoosier A7s. if its 10" I can step up to more like a 295, I just need to see what I can fit.

I am running Ohlin's coilovers right now with adjustable camber plates up front so I can tune in as much camber as would be needed.

So, if people can possibly weigh in how doable this particular set up would be I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance.

 

Hoosiers want more wheel, almost no point in running at the low end of wheel for any given tire spec since the tire will be sharper with a stronger outer edge (evos like to kill the outside front on most cars). So a 285 and 295 (theyre basically the same width, 295 is just taller) id recommend a 10.5" wheel. Just that 1/2" from a 10 to 10.5 is significant.

Caveat here is its not easy to fit. Check out Driv200 thread in the motorsport section about him trying to get 295 and 10.5s fitting.

 

thank you for the heads up there. That does look to be a touch more than I want to head into at the moment. Once the driver mod far exceeds the cars capability, I may see about a big offset, and then just cutting and flaring if needed. So, it seems like it might be better to just stay on the 9.5" widths.

 

I would say an RPF1 18x10 and like a 265-275 RE71 or Rival would be a perfect tire to build up the driver mod on.

 

Alright, I took your advice, I went to an 18 x 10 +38. Place I diverged a bit is I got a set of 275 R1S and A7 scuffs off of a local time attack guy. I will be running a 20mm spacer up front and a 5mm in the rear, both slip on hub-centric. I assume a roll and possibly a fender mod will be in my future. I just want to see the difference in grip I get going to to R-comp after racing for the last decade on 200TW streets.
