The 500/1 Mono amp is way overkill for the 8-inch Kicker. I used to have 2 JL Audio 10W3V2 subs in a ported box which is why I have this amp. The 2 10's sounded way better but I wanted to have a trunk and it weighed a lot.

Nice set up. If you got a flat tire in a middle of nowhere, what would you do? It seems that you took out your spare tire and replace them with youre speaker and amps. Where will the spare tire go?

 

I have AAA.

If I drive more then 100 miles away from my house I bring the spare stuff with me.

 

lookin clean! i use to have 3 JL 10s which sounded beastly but took up way too much room in the trunk. how's the overall sound quality?

 

That's an awesome idea, the stealthyness is awesome. Having a nice stereo and keeping lots of cargo room is a great combination.

 

Overall the sound quality is good. It sounds clean and for a little 8inch woofer it actual has pretty good bass. I have always had multiple woofers and I used to like big bass but this setup works. I listen to music from Dave Matthews Band to Tupac.

I think if I was to do it over though I would try to fit 1 10 in the tire well. I bought that box from Al on this board.

How's your XM reception in that spot?

I used to have that antenna, but I just got a much smaller one. The reception kinda stinks with it, so I'm thinking of going back to that antenna and mounting it where you did...

 

I only lose reception in tunnels.
