My battery relocation:

I was planning on making a how-to for a battery relocation in the evo, but my back starting acting up again, and I was unable to find the energy to take pics as I worked. Note this isn't the final product, but just a beta to see if I like how it came out. Grand total spent: 11.02 and a VERY short ground wire from my welder, heh.

Pardon the huge pictures.

I'll make a writeup later tonight. I'll take apart the trimpanels and basically start over with pictures today since I feel better. It was relatively easy, the most time consuming part was removing the interior trim panels, running the 2g wire, and putting them back. Luckily I used to have a system in my car (which I took out.. too much weight), so I have experience removing them. Wait for the writeup tonight

Damn you beat me to it... But I plan on using a battery box so I pass tech on track days.

How do you like that Optima Red Top?

It's been in my Jeep for about a year, I love it. That battery has been through hell and back, deadlifted my jeep from 4' of mud countless times, and my friend owes his life to it. i figured it was time to retire it from active duty, and power the evo. I basically drilled 2 holes in the floor, and used the stock j-hooks temporarily until i can order in a nice battery holder. it doesn't move at all. The optima starts the car the same as the stock battery did, but it's a very used redtop.

Lookin pretty good. I woulda put it on the other side though, to counter some of the weight from the exhaust. Other than that, pretty good set-up for a DIY. I love how it opens up the engine bay to make room for a straighter upper inner cooler pipe.

Thats a good thought, but I think a person weighs more than an exhaust. So on the passenger side it would counterweight the driver...

Good point. Dont forget about more heat over there also, which could effect battery life.

A well built battery box should help remedy that, but I think the trunk is cooler than a 1600 degree turbo 2 feet away....

Well maybe 1600 ia a little high, but its f'n hot under the hood
