stoptech, girodisc, and ferodo pad reviews.
ran 3 sets of pads pretty recently on the same vehicle (my dd wrx) and thought i would share my thoughts.
stoptech street pads.
dusty, decent inital bite and decent hot bite. occasional squealing, but not terrible. overall a decent pad if you are an aggressive driver and dont plan on hpde's.
ferodo ds2500's.
slightly less dusty than the stoptechs. good inital bite (as good as oem pads) and great hot bite. quiet for a while, then they squeal. re-bed them and they are back to being silent. good enough for hpde's. looked like new after the hpde too, great wear.
girodisc magic pads.
only ran for 5 miles. the inital bite and overall stopping ability is far worse than the other 2 and even worse than the stock wrx pads. couldnt take the poor stopping so i tossed the ds2500's back on right away, they were that bad.
overall, the ds2500 are by far the best pad i have ever tried for street/light track use. i ran 2 20 min sessions at bir and they performed great. more than enough power to overcome my pilot supersports. the fluid was getting hot and the tires greasy, but the pads were fine. very impressed with them. a little expensive, but well worth it.

just ordered a pair of ebc reds to toss on the back of the wrx. right now i have ds2500's on the front and magic pads in the rear and i can tell the rears are giving me a soft pedal and not stopping well. i was going to toss my stoptechs back on the rear (set i did a hpde with) but the reds supposedly match up better with the ds2500's. ill update when i get them on and bedded.
