suggestions, tires for the winter?

my car has 8600 miles on it and the front tires are shot... now first off is it possible to get them covered under warranty since theres only 8600 miles on the car and the front literally have no tred left..

now if they cant be replaced im going to go all seasonals... im looking in the price range of i suppose 500-800 i guess im willing to spend i really dont know how much a nice pair may cost

now if this does get covered whats a nice pair of winter only tires in the same price range.. thank you for the suggestions!

depends on how harsh your winters are if you need snow tires then I would go with something that is rated for all season and low temperature. If your winters are like mine and you get a lot of rain and cool weather but rarely snow then you can get something that has a little more grip. I put the Toyo T1-S tires on my car for the winter they work awesome in rain the tread pattern cuts through water better than anything Ive driven they don't handle as good as the advans but hey I wanted something that was good in water haven't tried them in snow yet so not sure about that.

Also there are like 10 other threads on this topic run a search and I'm sure you will find a lot of info

I had Yokohama AVS Winters in stock size. They worked great as long as you don't push too hard in the dry. In snow and slush they were very good.

I see your thinking of a pair instead of a full set. That's not the best idea, and we feel so strongly about it that we wont sell just two snow tires. Mixing a dedicated summer performance (border line competition tire) with an all season or winter tire.. that's pretty ugly. You will give the car a real bad split personality if you do that. The all season or winters will want to grab ice and snow while your summer tires will be hard as rocks and want to brake loose from any surface.
In a car like that its best to have all four corners match even if its the cheapest tire available.

Warranties on tires like these, especially MILEAGE warranties on OEM fitments, dont exist. 2 Snow tires or mixing tires on an AWD vehicle, bad idea. Good all seasons for cheap, Sumitomo HTR's, Toyo Proxes 4's and BFG G-Force KDWS. Pilot A/S are good, but pricey.

Neal, FYI, got back from a MGR's meeting in Denver. Talking to a few Michelin engineers about the PS2's. He had some specific pressure information regarding the Evo. I was running too high. I dropped everything down to stock and the PS2's are even better than the Yokohamas with cornering grip. Sidewall stiffness is still softer, but they're not quiet, smooth and sticky as all hell.

Just purchased Nokian RSIs. Expensive ($190 per tire shipped) but according to some they are way better that the Blizzak line. Better wear, etc. We have been getting our butts kicked with the snow in CT in past years so I went for it. Here is a link for those who are interested:

Obviously I haven't used them yet but I will report later...

did you rotate your tires at all? you should be able to get a little more out of them. i was able to get about 12k miles driving pretty conservative and rotating every 3k miles.
