I am going to get rear tires this weekend. I do not want to mess anything up... That is the last thing I need is for my diff to go out. Much rather spend the money on tires then on a diff or tranny or something like that. Also Technically worn front tires aren't the same diameter as the not so worn rear tires... My fronts were SHOT basically bald and the rear had plenty of tread. So in theory even those were not the "same" diameter.

If it was my rotors it would have done it with my old tires too. This is a new vibration that came with my new tires. So I am guessing it is not the rotors.... The vibration has seemed to disapear but I am still getting new rear tires....

you know, my car has recently been doing the 70mph shimmy too. Although my front tire's edges are almost gone, but not the center part. I agree with you though about the rotors, cuz I've never rotated my tires or braked so hard as to heat them up that much. The 03 GTi I used to have did the same thing, but only during braking...I think that one had slightly warped rotors.

uh ... yeah ... sometimes different brand tires can be as much as 1/2"+ off as another brand. I did some M. Pilot calculations based off of the "numbers" and found out that their diameter guide was just a bit off, and in some cases like almost 3/4" off in total diameter.

Also, different rubber is going to have a different heating and cooling, and road resistance characteristic ... so ... you're probably inducing a beat frequency through your drivetrain to your steering column. I'd really get the two other Sumitomos, or buy a couple of 'used' Advans to let the other Advans 'totally' wear out at the same time.

Good Luck,

jcnel.

Yah I am getting 2 new sumos this weekend. Even though I am sure AWD engineers calculate some difference in tire diameter into the design of an AWD system I am not going to risk it.
