I always find myself breaking in neutral.. I've got almost 10k miles and my brakes are at 60%... I'd probably have at least 70% if I downshifted more.

Yo I just checked mind today I have About 55% may be 50%
you took a look at my brakes

the simple fact is you will have to change your brakes before 20,000 mile

Downshift all you want

Drive hard, have fun

But You've got to pay to play

yeah... but if i had to commute like you, i'm sure it'd be lower because of my LACK for SOLID downshifting skills like yourself.

I just had to change my pads at around 18,000 miles, which included something like 7 or 8 track days with very hard braking usage (boiled the fluid, pad transfer issues, etc, etc). However, I'm very easy on the brakes in street driving, so it wouldn't surprised me if the track days contributed to a very large percentage of the wear.

I got almost 10k miles and the brakes still seem pretty good. It feels as if I haven't even hit the halfway mark and I'm always putting a good amount of pressure on the brakes. Not that I'm racing people, I just enjoy the smooth pulling of the EVO if and when I ever get the chance to excercise it. As long as the engine doesn't feel rough, I'm makin' that thing pull. Brakes feel just fine and dandy.
