SSR Competitions fragile?

can you also educate me on the purpose of the hub ring and why it needs to be so exact? i always thought the hub ring just helps add strength and helps with fitment....

I would have to say yes. Its quite noticeable.

Although I'm still not certain why SSR would change this piece for the USDM.

The Type C's have a rolled ridge around the lip while the Comps do not.

Both made in Japan. One only sold in the US.

the Competitions are not made in the US.. even on the rim it says "made in japan"

Per my contact at SSR the only difference between the Type-C and Competition is " the comp is machined for the hubring and center cap, and the outerlip profile is changed and machined. The wheels are identical as they come from the same raw shot stock."
