Ohlin Coil Overs ???

Does anyone have a set of these on their EVO, and can you give a brief report about both racetrack and street use? I understand they are more expensive than JIC or Tein, but are better quality.

Also, what is price of Ohlins at all four corners? Thanks.

I have a set of ohlins. They are simply the best coilover I put on a car. They are more expensive then JIC, much better quality. But, you get what you pay for.

I would contact ogvw for the latest prices, you can also try Vishnu tuning and Works rally. Both companies have ohlins suspension packages

I highly recommened these struts.

Vishnu has custom tuned spring rates. That would be my first call for Ohlins

David -

I followed the link to the Vishnu site. The only EVO suspension part listed there is "rear swaybar -- coming soon." Where are the Ohlin coil overs, and what does a set cost from your company? Thank you.

you have to call them.

I would recommend contacting Jason at Brits. That's where I bought mine. Jason is a great guy, I have gotten excellent service though him and brits in general.

Feel free to contact WORKS. I was very impressed with our WORKS/Ohlins setup when I drove it. They provide a very forgiveable ride on the streets, but quickly transition to a solid feel once you start pushing things: http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=82

I have a set of Ohlins installed by Vishnu. Be certain to get the cusco front tophats to provide the best fit and adjustability. I would recommend a full suspension setup, with cusco rear sway bar. Go kart like handling!

One more question -- Why does everyone here recommend changing out only the REAR swaybar? Wouldn't a beefier FRONT swaybar also improve handling? (I guess that's 2 questions lol).

Hello,

We also sell the Ohlins for the Evo VIII for $2400. You will need to add the purchase of the Cusco hats to that price. I have 1 set left on the shelf. Thanks guys.

a) changing the front bar is a PIA. you have to drop the front cross member...

I did this mod Make your front swaybar adjustable, but in the end, I left is on the stock setting after upping the spring rates on the coilovers.

b) in simplistic terms, the rear swaybar helps reduce understeer.

IMHO, the evo (unlike the WRX/STI ) does not respond very well to stiffer swaybars. I have achieved much better performance by leaving the swaybars alone, and increasing the spring rates to reduce body roll. With the Ohlins, I am running really high spring rates (400lbs+) and still have a very nice street ride.

saying that ohlins are better than jics isn't saying much. but i'll agree that by reputation alone ohlins are the best suspension made. jics are just made poorly and they don't back their american customers for crap nor are they competent (hence road race engineerings change to either buddy club or zeal, and btw road race also offer ohlins, tuned).

the reason why you want a stiffer/thicker/solid or thinner diameter sway bar is because it will increase the rear end response and weight trasnfer speed. hence giving you a livelier backend (more oversteer). of course this should only be done if you are familiar with the handling characteristics of the car already etc, that you are one with your car and you've learned it. keep in mind you need to get a properly tuned sway bar, one well matched to either the front stock sway bar of a set of sway bars that are well matched for each other. that is why rre makes a rear sway bar well matched to the front. progress is similar. works makes a set of two that i'm sure you can go to them to get tuned (they are solid btw). cuscos fronts are not adustable... so you are limited there.
