I would agree with the nokian.
I ice race with the nokian hakka Q's on my celica gt-4, they're awesome.
Luckily I have a winter beater, so no snow tires for my EVO yet.

I had the pull the ABS fuse in order to stop at all. The ABS sucks for snow.

I think you should add Blizzaks to the poll.
I have the LM-22s and they are pretty amazing. They ride great in the dry (not too squishy at all) and work very very well in the snow/Ice we have here in Minnesota.
I have gone 100mph on 1-2 inches of snow and I tested their 130mph speed rating by taking them to 121mph on the dry. (On the track of course ) It is pretty easy to cruise on snow (past SUV's) at 70-80 mph with confidence. I see no need to buy another brand of tire for winter, since these exceed my expectations. I would like to try the Nokian/Hekkas out though, since I have heard great things about them.

One final note, I did talk to a fellow EVO owner about his Blizzaks, the WS-50 (99mph speed rating, which is too low anyways) and he thought they were a bit too squishy on the dry.
LM-22...all the way! And I believe there is a new one the LM-25. Good luck!

I got snow tires put on my Evo a couple of weeks ago. They are Viking Snowtec's 225/45/R17's. They are fantastic in the snow and wet. I haven't had any traction issues and we've seen alot of snow for this early in the season.

I think you'd be safe with any snow tire, but if you are going to deal with any snow at all, snow tires make an incredible difference. I had all-seasons on my A4 and I could slide and spin all over the place. Even in new tires. With snows, it's a much different story.
