Drove the Evo in snow for first time

**not my first time driving in snow or ice** Summer tires are definitely not the way to go lol. We got a few inches of snow and ice here in middle/northern Tennessee Monday night/Tuesday morning. I needed groceries so I braved the storm Tuesday morning in the Evo. I took my normal route to the store which is like 2 total miles and man it was a tough drive. The ice made things very slippery. I stayed in 2nd gear the whole way. Went around a curve at one point and slid right off the road pretty hard into a sidewalk. Thought I did pretty bad damage but thankfully it seemed worse than it was, no damage or anything and there was enough snow/ice that I didn't slam directly into the curb. At any rate, got the car back home and threw the cover on it and haven't touched it since. Roads are clear now but there's enough standing snow and ice from the plows that if I hit a chuck I might lose my front bumper so I'll wait until it all melts before driving her again.

HAHAHA yeah man, summer tires won't do anything in the snow.
But the evo is a beast with snow tires, please don't try it again.

Yeah. Without proper tires even the Evo will be like a de-clawed cat trying to climb. It could be very dangerous on ice/snow!

+1 on winter tires. I would like to drive my evo on snow someday. I am in Texas so I would have to go somewhere else.

lol yeah I knew it would be tough in summer tires. when I had my SRT-10 truck I had super high performance summer tires on it and got some thick snow in Missouri while I was stationed there. THAT was a blast, albeit scary, but fun. I haven't touched the car since that morning and won't until this snow and ice melts.

First thing I did was put snow tires on in Missouri, why of course I'll do all the rounds for SDO tonight....at the enclosed training areas.....

Sad to report that the front passenger wheel broke during my little crash. Didn't notice it because snow/ice had piled up around the wheel over the past week. Checked out the car yesterday since it melted away and found a complete chunk of spoke around the outer diameter broke clean off. Wheel is done. Sucks because it's a Advan 18" wheel. They go for $738 a piece, plus shipping and have to be built to order. In the interest of time I may just order 4 new wheels of a different variety. It might be worthwhile for someone to buy my 3 good ones on the cheap and pony up for the one new wheel and have a set of 4 Advans for a fraction of the normal cost.

Ouch, discount tire direct ships for free, but no advans there.

Yeah I went ahead and ordered 4 wheels since the price of just the one Advan is almost as much as 4 and I've already gotten offers on my other 3 good Advans. Got Enkei Tuning Raijin's in 18x8.5. Will just reuse my rubber for these new wheels and offset price with selling the other 3 Advans. Oh well, sucks but not as bad as it could be.

Can confirm, I finally replaced my all-seasons with winter tires and it is UNREAL how much better the Evo is now.
