Now my dilemma is, do i refinish the stock wheels and take the rest of the money and by another mod or, do I suck up the mad curb rash on my enkei's, keep them as winter wheels, and use the money to by new wheels for the summer? Something like the TDR wheels? What do you guys think I should do? Thanks

I'd get new summer wheels...

A local place, with nice new Hunter machines, installed my Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on the OEM Enkei wheels without a scratch. BUT, the install was done by the lead tech (shop manager) because that same shop scratched one of the wheels on my G35 coupe. They bought me a new wheel ($700, ouch!) and then I was able to buy the scratched wheel back from them for $100 to use as a full-size spare.

I'm going to run my OEM wheels in the Winter until they get beat-up by the salt/gravel and then I'll get them powder-coated (much tougher than paint).

yea i work at costco tire shop, at least the one i work in (cincinnati, fields ertle) we have all the european touchless machines, by theory theyre not supposed to ever touch the rim, but w/ low pro when ur pryin the tire of the lip of the rim it sometimes pulls the wheel up, most likely what happend to ur wheels, but ne way back to my point, defenitely get ur winter tires at costco and have them install them for two reasons. One is the prices are much better than 95% of the places, not just sayin that cause i work there, i hate the place and could care less if we sell tires. Second costco kisses every customers *** so if they even put the tiniest scratch and u complain they will take care of it no problem.

The Hunter machines are awful nice, but really I think it's up to the tech to get the job done right. The Hunters just make it much easier for them. I'd rather pay an extra $20 to a reputable shop that has experienced techs than cruise into a Wal-Mart and have my wheels mangled. I think the guys I went to take alot of pride in their work and are enthusiasts just like us which is a big plus.

I can't remember who it was from Tirerack but they came up and gave a very nice seminar one day at this shop (O' Reilly's Motorcars) . Covered the latest technology from the major manufacturers, tire construction, and history of the major players. Very informative. Took some questions from me and a friend about F1 tires and he knew alot about them as well. Big kudos to Tirerack and O'Reilly's.
