I just put a set of Blizzak LM-22's (235/45/17) and I must say they are freakin awesome. We just got 6-9" of snow in the Balto. area and they feel like you're driving on asphalt. The only thing I worry about is when it gets caught in grooves in the snow, but even then it's quite managable. Like the guy said earlier, I go out just to drive in the snow because of the confidence I have in these tires!!
The one thing you will notice is a definate decrease in dry traction compared to the stock Yok's. They're softer and initial turn-in is not as good as stock either. But these are highly recommended tires.

i think most of the snow tires are gonna get around the same traction in bad conditions. this is my first winter with my evo and the blizz lm-22's, and as stated above it is a blast to drive. when you go out in the snow whether it be 2 inches or in an unplowed parking lot of 10-12 inches of fresh powder these things move. usually the only time i drive my car really hard is when it snows, but man do i have fun.
My LM-22's have almost as much grip in the dry as my summer tires, they just squeal a lot more...and in the deep poofy Utah snow up snowboarding, they rock, and they rock on ice as much as they can
have experience with 3 out of the 4... I'm running WS-50's now, just because i live in some pretty harsh winter weather... if you'd be driving in a bit of icy weather, no doubt, WS-50's... if you want maximum traction for snow as well, WS-50's... they do not have the higher dry tractions out of the bunch, but they tear snow and ice a new one... and they don't ride bad to boot, kinda quiet for an aggressive snow tire... just don't go above 110mph with them and you'll be fine...
if you're winter is not as harsh, the LM's or Alpin's work out just fine... but, once again, for maximum safety, and controllable fun, WS-50's are the way to go, and, suprisingly, they're some of the cheapest too...
