Brakes squealing
metalic break pads make an oh-so-lovely, armagedon is coming sound. its normal. they should quiet up when they heat up. you should listen to a full out race cars brakes before they warm them up! sounds like death! squeals so loud your ears feel like they are going to bleed. its great!
Do a search...there are plenty of threads...general consensus is that you are screwed and you just have to "deal with it"
My 03 never had any brake noise, my 05 squeals just as you are describing...dealership has tried to eliminate the problem twice now with no luck....I'm going to give it 1,000 miles then make a decision whether or not to keep the car...
If this is the price of having a performance car then I guess I'm not that hardcore...

My 2005 MR also squeals at 1-5 mph when I'm coming to a stop. It's totally normal as described by everyone else. I also had this happen when I had a 350 Z Track Model, it also had Brembo brakes. On the Z it went away after a couple thousand miles so I'm not worried about it. Definitely wouldn't get rid of the car because of that.
my mr squeals occasionally (1-5 mph with extremely light brake pressure only) if you let off the brake or step on it harder it goes away. Perfectly normal for grippy pads.

My car never squealed until I got the new brake pads (Ferodo DS2500's).. I have an 03, the stock brembo pads had a shim and a fiber insulator.. ITs difficult to swap pads with that fiber insulator.. There is a solution, anti-squeal compound (basically a heavy grease like compound) so the pads don't transfer the resonating frequency to the calipers..
Mostly, its a pain and it happens to everyone, you just get used to it.. I'm beginning to notice that nearly every performance car with good brakes squeals when their cold, when they warm up the metal expands slightly and seems to go away.. But in stop and go driving when the pads don't get a chance to warm up.. Oh my god, its like being chased by someone scratching a blackboard..

I have Feredo DS2500 and assembled them with both Metal shim and Fiber insolutator that was stuck to the stock pads. The Fiber shims were easy to peal off for me. I sprayed some brake cleaner on them and allowed it to soak through. This helped to soften up the adhesive. They literally pealed right off. I was expecting some noise from the Ferodos from most of the reports, but fortunately my brakes are quiet.
Yeah, they were quiet for me too, until the weather got cold here and I got a few thousand miles on them.. I actually had no trouble with the fiber shims, putting them on the new pads and getting them to fit up front was a PITA, turns out there's not quite enough space for them unless you have some wear on your rotors and had them turned.

Brake squeal (2 visits to dealer, not fixed), brake light not coming on until pedal almost fully depressed (1 visit, fixed), vibration at 80 mph after wheels came off for brake inspection (1 visit, wheels rebalanced, fixed)...then they find a screw in my brand new Advan (1,200 miles on it...patched)
Ok, deep breath......nothing lodged, the dealer has had them apart and inspected, etc...and no pattern to the squealing other than slow speed braking as described
So anyway...all minor stuff but it has added up to my being a little frustrated with my car right now....the brake squealing is really pushing my buttons.....

Nothing to worry about at all
The brakes in my '05 MR started squealing with very high pitched noise about a week ago (the car has about 1400 miles on it now). I suspected it was normal but my wife is driving me nuts about the squeals. It happens at very low speeds and under very light braking. I wish there was a cure, but I suspect not. BTW, my wife had similar problems with the brakes in her Pathfinder. We took it to the dealer several times and to a brake shop thinking the pads were gone but they were almost like new (even after 30K miles). They told my wife that she needed to use the brakes more forcefully because the pads were glazed due to her very gentle driving
Hey everyone. I believe I am having the same problem in my 05. However, it only happens about 1 out of 10 times I brake at low low speeds (coming to a complete stop). Its a VERY loud SQUEAL. It doesnt sound like brake pads to me or is it? I am wondering if we are all talking about the same noise. If so, should I just change the pads? Different rotors? Its REALLY annoying and sort of embarassing! I know this is somewhat normal according to previous posts but can I just buy different pads?
Thanks!
Tom
