I'm by no means a suspension expert but the first thing would be what do you plan on doing with your evo? If you're planning on taking it to the track then you're probably looking at sway bars, strut braces, end links and coilovers, etc. If it's a daily driver then there are some easy mods that you can get to improve the handling performance without going the coilover route.

That is a good point. What is your goal. Do you want the best handling car, or is the Evo a daily driver and you want the right stance.
I had the Tien H-Techs, Cusco Tri-Brace, Cusco Trunk Bar, and Cusco Type II under brace. I took all that off my Evo and the suspension is now stock. Last Friday I took the car to the mountains and I had the best time. The car felt better without that stuff. I bet the Cusco bars helped, but I think the springs hurt the handling. I know I said H-Techs are great in a previous post, and for a daily driver they are great, the ride is soft. But, for something like a mountain run, I prefer the stock springs.
As for the braces, I did notice a difference with the Cusco trunk brace, the car felt stiffer. Maybe I should have kept the trunk bar and tried it with the stock springs.
As for coil overs, I have no clue. Never tried them. Would like to, but they are a little pricey.

You need to take care of this problem first.

I agree that goals and a plan should be first. Decide whats most important (stance, street use, road course, drag?) and then do some digging for what people have had good luck with in that application. From there ask some questions to help refine where you're heading.

There are alot of different set ups that work great for different needs. If you don't have time to do the research yourself, work with a reputable shop that does suspension set-up. Tell them exactly how you want to use your car and be honest about your likes, dislikes and driving experience.

^ Lol, I was going to ask the same question. What's wrong with the stock suspension unless you plan on tracking and whatnot...

If you want a smoother ride and a bit of a lower stance, we have had excellent feedback from the Tanabe springs so far. Among our Evo customers, they seem to be the favorite

At this point in the Evo scene, it should be really easy to get feedback from more than a few owners of probably every suspension setup out there...from inexpensive to "I could buy a Kia or these coilovers".

yeah, if you arent going to get really down and dirty, i dont think the money for coilovers is justifiable. i was going to order h-techs for my evo today, but maybe i will look a little more into the Tanabe springs before i do. that quote about the kia should go into my sig.
