Found some 1/2" ice racing screws at the local powersports store (1750) to be exact.

Conned a friend into coming and helping me and screwed 410 into each tire. Dipping the threads of each one in urethane windshield adhesive to help keep tham in and help seal them.

One tire has been pressure tested to 18psi and has held it for almost 24 hours now without dropping a single psi, the rest are getting 24 hours drying time for the urethane to properly set before they get any air.

It took about 20 man hours to do this, and we did it overnight last night very tedious, but should be a lot of fun to drive on.

If anyone else does this... WEAR LATEX GLOVES, it is very messy and we have each spent about 3 hours (seriously) washing our hands with orange soap, starter fluid, and gas, and they are still not clean. The gas does a very good job of getting it off the tools though.

That was a lot of work, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I've been ice racing once. Spiked tires make a ridiculous improvement. Combined with AWD it'll be like dry pavement!

This probably throws out the wheel balance a lot. At high speed those tires are going to shake the car. At what speed do you race on ice?

OMG these things work amazingly well. Not quite as good as spikes I don't think, but for a budget don't need to get the tire unmounted and remounted solution it is great.

I thought it would send the wheels out of balance too, but I hit 85mph on the ice and there was no noticable vibrations (as in I could not feel any).

Wicked fun!!! No vid I'm afraid, but pics soon!!
