Wheels that fit WITHOUT Spacers?
Wheels that fit WITHOUT Spacers?
This information is available across tons of threads but I think it'd be nice to have it collected in one spot. Post any wheels that fit without spacers, fender rolling, or other modifications to a bone stock EVO.

This is simply not the case. Most 'generic' wheels are adapted to specific hub fitments via the use of plastic rings that clip into the wheel's centre bore. These rings have the structural integrity of Linguini - if your statement were accurate half the aftermarket wheeled cars on the road would be missing one or more wheels. Load transmission is achieved by the clamping force of the lug nuts, centering the wheel is achieved by the use of concal seat nuts.

wingnut - look for one of us online this weekend on AIM (z1auto) - can give you the skinny on everything we offer that fits. Our wheel section on our site has all confirmed fitments as well, though not everything we offer is on there

Lug nuts/lug bolts do not center a wheel to the vehicle. If that were the case there would be no use for hubcentric rings. They don't call them hubcentric lugs because that's not their job. When you don't use the ring (when required) the wheel will actually sag on the hub and rest on the studs. The nuts will then tighten down the wheel in the same way its sitting on the hub. It may not be visually noticeable, it its being bolted down crooked. This will then cause a vibration while you drive down the road. When you use the ring the wheel is being suspended tightly on the hub. The hubcentric ring is keeping it... well hubcentric.

90% of the calls I get from people saying they have vibration, bad tire, bent wheel etc etc after we sent them a pack haven't used the required centering ring, but instead relied on the lugs to center the wheel. Once they install the ring the vibration goes away and all is good.

is there anything I can buy that would allow me to correctly mount the Cobra rims? I'll also note that the rims I bought came with new nuts which were the wrong size for the evo studs.

Nothing we carry. A wheel has be already be produced to accept a centering ring. Since Cobra wheels are hub centric for Fords specifically, they don't have the overbore or correct taper to accommodate a centering ring. You will have to rely solely on the lugs to center the wheel, which isn't the best thing to do.
