Where did you get this information? I just checked the manufacturer's website (because that number looks too low to believe) and it said 23.3 for the stock size on that model.

Depends on the version. There are two differ versions of that tire made in that size. One made for Mercedes and one for BMW. The 18 lb one is the MBZ oem and the BMW weighs 21 lbs. Are you sure your not looking at the Conti Sport Contact 2 instead of the Cont Sport Contact? The 2's weigh 23 lbs. We get this info from the manufacture directly.

Is the version of the PS2 on the Carrera GT the same as the one I got from you? Side by side they look the same (friend has a GT).

Just like the Cont, the PS2 is made in specific versions for specific cars (as you know ) Porsche calls these "N spec" tires. Sometimes they can differ in tread design, compound, and internal construction. The stock EVO size is not tied to any OEM application. So, the tread may look the same in this case, but the tires internals can be different. Just makes my job more difficult heheh

I'm definitely looking at the Sport Contact and not the Sport Contact 2. And I do see the two OEM versions -- one is listed as 23.3 and the other is 22.6. Here is the link to the data:

The one they are showing is 94Y, Y speed rated. The Mercedes OEM version thats 18 lbs is a 94W, W speed rated. They aren't showing it on that chart. This is the problem having so many versions of one tire. One ply difference in construction can make a big difference in weight.

Neal, the 94Y and 94W are both on the 2nd chart in that PDF. The 94W is the one that is listed as 22.6 lbs.

sorry missed the oe side. hrmmm....I'm going to ask our tire information service rep and see what he comes up with. We get the tire specs (width, tread width, weight, etc etc) directly from the manufacture so I have him check again. As soon as I know I'll pass that along

OK well to get back on topic.... (and maybe expand beyond the scope of this thread...)
how much do the BFG g-Force T/A KD and KDW's weigh? I assume "max performance" is the category above "ultra high performance", yes? What is the grippiest tire I can put on my car for auto-x and still not be in the R-compound classes? If I want to move up to 255/40-17s what wheel width/offset do I need?

For those considering the PS2, I can say that I've got 15k miles on them now, and they are still 70% new, with hard driving in NJ! No bubbles or abnormal wear, nothing!!! They lack the sidewall stiffness of the Advans, but are lighter and when turned into a corner, hold much more predictably and solidly than the advans, the PS2's just dont seem to want to break loose. Wet weather traction is laughable, and aside from starting and stopping, they work in the snow! The circumferential grooves help lateral traction, digging into the snow....I can't believe how great these tires are. My #1 recomendation for street tires, AND they come in my next size, 255/35R18...superb in every way.

BTW, the G-Force KD's are the grippiest and overall stiffest for a non R-Compound, Blade. I've run on those in 245/40's and they are exceptional, but much more niche that the PS2's

I just got PS2's mounted today. Much too early to review and I need to get an alignment.

How come I have had a stock alignment, I got 12000 out of the stock Advans, 15000 out of these and they show NO abnormal signs of wear? I think its all overexxagerations and poor tire pressure settings most of the time. Then again, I am drunk and beligerant right now...mwuahahahahaha

Yup, Max performance then Ultra High Performance class. The OEM sized KDW comes in at 27 lbs. It has a bit more internal construction than some of the others. If you didn't want to use the Advan for auto-x, I would look at the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. You will need at least an 8.5" wide wheel to run a 255. I would suggest a 245/40-17 instead. Many have had great luck with that size.
