Question Need HELP on choosing new set of TIRES

Hi,

I know this posting might be repeating, but I am more focus on looking for a set of new tires for my EVO in terms of reliability (can last much longer than average) and above average performance (of course don't want to buy some cheap tires for a good sport car like an EVO), price not to be too expensive (about average).

Please if anyone can give me some suggestion. i will really appreciated.
The only place that i look at is the tirerack.com. But still really have no idea if which brand is really worth the money to spend. Most of them are about $600 shipped plus $15 for one tire mounting and $5 for deposal fee for each tire.

I feel if i really have to spend that much. I really hope to get the best deal with the most long lasting tire. I live in California, so i guess All-Seasonal tires is what i need.

So, basically, you're looking for a tire that lasts "much longer than average" but also gives you "above average" performance? I'm sorry, but such a thing does not exist! Sticky performance tires wear quickly. Hard, long-lasting tires suck for grip. It's a fact of life.

If your priority is having the longest possible tire life, then an all-season is the way to go. Just be prepared to live with very poor handling.

TOYO PROXES 4 or FALKEN AZENIS ST-115 are the two tires I'm looking at right now for decent grip and longer lasting than the advans. In my personal opinion, if the ST-115 is good enough for drifting, then they should qualify as "above average" performance. As for the PROXES, they have pretty good grip but are almost as noisy as the ADVANS.

i have toyo proxes T1-S and they definetly feel unsure in the corners, i will rather buy more tires throughout the year with the stickies, than drive un-stickies throughout the year. my2c

I just put Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S on my car. I don't have too many miles yet and haven't done much to "test" their abilities, but my first impressions are that it is a decent tire. The first thing I noticed is that they are much much quieter than the Advans. They ride a bit better but the sidewall is also softer. I can feel that it won't perform to the level of the Advans, but I knew that before I bought them.

I would agree with Emre with the all-season tire comment, however performance does not need to suffer greatly. I'm running the Kuhmo ECSTA ASX for winter, which is an all-season ultra high performance tire. The quality of this tire is surprisingly good, and it offers a lot of grip and cornering stability for the price. It really surpised me and I would recommend these as a solid all-season tire. I'm changing into some Azenis come spring, though.

I say go with the T1-S's from Toyo or get S-03s.

I'm a cheap *** and wanted to mix LONGER LIFE with adequate performance (given this is my daily driver not an auto X machine) I bouth a set of 235/45R 17 Nitto 555r's and have loved every minute of them TREMENDOUS GRIP and way better in the rain than those advans (god i miss those tires) but the best hing about the nittos was that there were only 478 for all four!!!

Have 10k miles on them and still not even reached the halfway point in treadwear!!!

I called TireRack yesterday and they told me the best choose of tire with long lasting and performance is the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S tire. It is about $131 for one tire. What do you guys think about this tire in terms of cornering, rainny days and reliability?

the general tire that lots of people are using for like stock performance but a lot longer tread life are the falken azenis, and now falken has come out with the falken azenis rs, which is the same tire in a different treat pattern for better wet performance. the azenis will not last on the track but for street driving there is almost nothing better that lasts as long.

the new tire that everyone is going nuts over is the bfg kd. better than stock performance and longer lasting (yes it does exist) but it costs about the same, so they're not cheap (this is one of those things like buying wheels, light cheap strong don't go in the same sentence).

if you want better than stock but 5 bucks cheaper...go with toyo proxes ra1, but they won't last as long at all... though they'll last longer on the track than any other street tire.

these are the only tires i would consider out of all the tires available on the market.

i would venture to touch say, stock again, but that's exensive, and the cousin of stock a032 but once again... expensive. such a ***** that they put these tires on the car stock... it's just not the same without them or with something less.

I went thru a lot of tires on my car trying to figure out which sets I liked best. My first choice of course was the stock Yokohama A046's, but at $200+ a tire I couldn't afford a new set every 10k miles. I really liked both the Dunlop SP Sport 9000's and the Kuhmo ECSTA 712's. the Kuhmo's, I felt, were a little more slippery in the wet than the Dunlops. The Dunlops seemed to have consistent stickieness thru all temperature ranges and didn't get unpredictable as the tires got hotter under performance driving. The Kuhmo's got progressively slicker as they heated up but it was at a very nice, slow, even, predictable pace. At $150ish for the Dunlops, and $130ish for the Kuhmos, I found them both to be to my liking.
