Mine all flaked off too. Dealer will not replace them or subsidize getting them repainted.

I'm just going to strip and repaint mine...I'm tired of fighting with Mitsubishi.

have you guys ever changed your brakes or bleed them? could be that a little brake fluid got on them and ate away throught the clear coat. I really cant' see heat effecting the clearcoat, I would THINK Mitsu would use a high temp clearcoat.

Mine are having the same problem. Is this normal for painted calipers? is this due to poor painted job?

well finally someone else has this problem. ive been dealing with this problem since july!
1st i went to the svc mngr at the dealer, then they took pictures, then sent them to the
regional service rep. who told me that was normal wear and tear! bull#$%&* i said. i have
never used any chemical except water and soap and the car only had like 19500 miles. so
i called mitsubishi motors customer service and then something started to be done, mitsu
motors called brembo and now they are testing something, i have called several time over the months with the answer that they are waiting on a reply from brembo. i have said what
are the testing? are they leaving a set of brembos out in the rain, sun, snow and waiting to
see if the clearcoat peals off!!! well jan 1st they called back and said i will be getting answer
soon(oh really!) and saked how many brembos are the clearcoat pelling off of. well months
ago it was the front 2 now all have started to peal with the right front almost pink now.

Mine are peeling too. No chemicals nor any track days. Started peeling around 20,000 miles. Let us know if you guys figure anything out.

Off topic, but my hood vent is almost completly free of paint now too. It stared fading around 20,000 miles as well.

I've heard of the hood vent as well, but I've also heard that it looks really cool when the paint is completely off...this sucks about the calipers, I'm keeping an eye on mine...

on the '03 evo i traded in for my MR, i had no issues with the clearcoat, but there were scratches on my rear calipers. They were no big deal, but i found myself wondering how they got there...

I just went to the dealer yesterday about the peeling clearcoat... The guy didn't even look at the car, he just said "ok, I'll call the General Manager to get it approved" I made him come outside and look at it, just for the sake of it. He called me 2hrs later and said that the parts had been ordered.. They are replacing all 4 calipers, and my wing.. WARRANTEE... There is a tiny spot on the wing where the clearcoat was starting to come off.. So I'm getting a new one of those too!!

Needless to say, I was shocked to have such a quick and positive reponse from Mits... Score 1 for them on this... Although, they didn't warrantee my hood vent which has turned chrome from the black that it was.. I simply repainted it.. Took 15 minutes... No biggie.. But strange that they give a hard time about the hood vent, and not $1,000 + Brembo brakes!! Good luck guys!!
