Got new rotors, important question!

ok ill try to say this best to my abilities...i originally had original brembo pads/brembo rotors, my brakes started squeeking (PS THIS IS FOR THE FRONT PAIR ONLY), so i ordered project Mu B FOrce pads and put them on, when i put them on they kept squeeking, so i went to get my rotors turned and turned out rotors were worn out. So i ordered a pair of slotted rotors from ************** (nice rotors for the price), and i got em today ready to put on, what i need to know is, since material from the worn rotor touched my project mu pads for about 3wks, do i need to sand the stuff off my pads with something BEFORE they touch my new rotors? also, i know Endless reverses the direction of the slots, should i purposely do this with rotorpros rotors? meaning the rotors meant for the left side, put it on the right, and the ones for the right side, put it on the left side

I don't think you have to sand your pads but you will need to bed them with your new rotors ...

If they're slotted or crossdrilled...you shouldn't have any need to sand. They'll wear that top, glazed portion off quick.

ok, and the question about the direction of rotors?

i got the same rotors, great quality for the price so far, mine are slotted only and i was actually wondering the same thing with the direction of the slots. i put mine on the same way you did, the way rotorpros says to do it, so far everything is fine

go this way slot pointing \ way.

/ way is the wrong way.

http://www.baer.com/Support/TechTips.aspx?TechTipID=2

hope that helps.

by the way, project mu b-force sucks a large a ss.

should of gotten a n/s or something else. b-force eats up rotors like there's no tomorrow.

No - you should check the supplier recommended proceedure usually included with the pads.

usually you put the pads and rotors on. Pump up the pedal and make sure you have a solid feel before you go out. Then drive car and do like 10 hard firm stops at progressing speeds:
20,25,30,35...mph. then let brakes cool.

After they cool you should be ready for normal use.

PS: high performance pads squeak - usually at slow speed light application.

It's like a performance exhaust - comes with the territory.

high performance pads squeak, because the material that they're made mostly of metallic.

And that squeaking sound is metal being pressed up against metal. that and vibration, but mostly metal to metal sound.

it's the sound of your brake pads eating away at your rotors.

anyway, to break in, do 30mph, stop hard. 60mph stop hard. 80mph stop hard to embed your pads into your rotors.

and get a new set of pads with your rotors is recommended...

It is very important that you DO NOT come to a complete stop when bedding in your brake pads. This will result in uneven pad material buildup on the rotor and the "warped rotor" feel people complain about a lot.

tons of caliper grease on the back of the pads. yes. and metal shims. yes.

what was that other guy talking about?

we were just talking about embedding the pads. What's that got to do with the slotted or dimpled/holed rotors?

they all embed the same way.

the slotted and dimpled rotors help dissapate brake gas and cools the braking temperature down to reduce brake failure and pad fading.

I would put them on the specified sides. As far as sanding the brake pads, I don't think that would be necessary, but it shouldn't hurt anything as long as you don't create any irregularities on the pad. Just be sure to bed the pads properly after the installation. I believe stoptech has the procedure on their site.
