What offset for 18x10" wheel would be best?

Hey all,

If I was to run a 18x10" wheel on my evo, what would be the best offset?

I believe about +38 is the most inboard you can go, and with 18x10 I don't think you can do it without rolling the fenders and possibly pulling them out a bit, especially on the back. 18x9.5 +35 5Zigen FN01R-C barely fit. But what on earth do you want such a wide wheel for anyway? You can put a 265/35/18 on an 18x9.5 no problem.

If you are running coilovers, with a 6" spring, an offset of 25mm will work without rolling the fenders. It will accomadate a 285/30/18 size tire. It is a very tight fit, but will work.

oops, forgot to mention that that will work on the front only. On the rear you need to run 18x9.5 with a 35mm offset, and that also will barely clear. You will need to roll the rear fender lip to make that work.

I dont' get it, +25 is more outboard than +35 which is generally where most wheels are that fit the Evo. Why would you want such a huge wheel more outboard than normal?

offset is the measurement that is reletive to the centerline of the rim. If the rim is 2" wider and the offset is the same, then it will be 1 inch farther in, and 1 inch farther out. The stock rims have a backspacing of 138.8 mm. A 10" rim with a 25 mm offset has a backspacing of 151 mm. That means that the inside edge of the rim sits 12.2 mm closer to the strut than stock. It also means that the outside edge of the rim sits 38.2 mm farther out than stock. Trust me on this, it is the setup that I currently run on my car.

I run 18x10 with 22mm offset in front, and 18x9.5 with 35mm offset in rear. 285/30/18 Hoosier a3so5 tires for autocross.

25 mm would be a better offset for the front. I also run Ohlins coilovers with 6" freeheight springs to allow it to work. It may also work with a stock setup, but I am not certain.

I run 18x9.5 with 40mm offset all around.

needs 17mm spacers to work upfront but clears perfectly in the rear (coilovers & cut/rolled rear fenders)

Nils, that will work with a smaller tire, but with a 285/30/18, it would rub the rear trailing arm. It has to be 18x9.5 35mm to work on the rear with the big tire. Actually, you could just throw a 5mm spacer on the rear and it would work fine. lol

Is running spacers bad?

If u use longer wheel studs, does that make it better to run spacers?
