Michelin PS2 + CE28N

My advans are getting close to 20K miles now, and it's about time to look for some new tires.
Yesterday my friend told me Michelin PS2 is about 3lbs lighter than advan? (22lbs for PS2 vs 25lbs for advans) and if I get CE28N wheels at the same time that will be shave about 9lbs per each wheel, so total shaving of 36lbs unsprung weight!! YES 36lbs unsprung weight!! Is this true? It sounds like too good to be true though... can some one verify this for me?

well... i was wondering about the wheel weight he was claiming, tire weights are avail at tire rack and the ps2s are almost as light as r compounds. which makes me wonder... cuz not only do they have full tread they kinda have a lotta siping (which yes... would help the weight, but would take away from max performanceness)

My PS2's are at 2-4/32nds at 8700 miles or so. 25% hard canyon miles the rest street and freeway miles.

They are alright. I wish I had the OEM's on, actually. The PS2's grip well in the dry and the rain but are very weak compared to the stockers in transitions. For reference, I'm driving an '05 STi and I have 235/45/17 Michelin's.

In hindsight, I wouldn't recommend them. I would go for a tire like the Advan but of course my driving is not typical street use. These tires can last 20k or so driven normally, I bet.

You might have a different experience with 255/40/17. The mold release compound is still coming off and you should notice significantly better performance by 500 miles or so.
