Dealer says the "joint kit" needed to repair my broken left cv joint is over $300 and on backorder until October! Anyone have any ideas or sources for replacement?

Also, is it okay to continue to drive on a bad cv joint if I can tolerate the noise? Or will it damage other parts? Thanks.

Isn't this covered under warranty? If not, why so.

Unfortunately I'm on a little trip right now and won't see my own car for a few months. My girlfriend picked it up and noticed the "loud tapping". Dude friend of hers heard her pull in the lot and said "bad CV joint."

Mitsu won't cover anything for me due to performance mods. Silly I know, but I've given up on any warranty coverage. I'm willing to pay to play, although why my cams and bolt on's make brake calipers peel and CV joints break is beyond me.

Buschur racing has aftermarket half shafts you could get if you really need one.

UPDATE. Okay, I found 2 front axle boot kits in my trunk (PN:MN156751). They are waiting for the Front axle joint kit to finish the job (PN: MN156752-special order) $322.90

So I guess I'm actually looking for the joint kit. What is this part and why so expensive!?

Are you talking about the actual CV joint? Have you tried the driveshaftshop? They are based in NY and now in florida and they do a complete half shaft replacement with a higher output strength to boot. Buschur racing buys from them but only offer the rears. Driveshaftshop should have the fronts as well.

I just don't see paying oem prices when something better can be had. Good luck let me know what you end up doing.

I might need a half shaft replacement. I hit a nasty pothole at 60mph. More like crashed into it.
