rebuilding shocks...need some expert advice

I have Cuscos Zero2R's and I just noticed one of my coilovers is leaking oil. Because of my location the only way to fix them is to send them to japan for a complete rebuild. Do you think its a good idea to have someone who can rebuild them locally? Someone told me they just need to refill the shock oil or whatevers to fix it. It will come with 6 months warranty... I really dont want to send my coilovers to japan...its time consuming and costly. Im confused if I should just let someone locally do it or send it to japan because im sure they will leak again soon cause the roads here are crappy. How difficult is it to rebuild shocks?

Rebuilding dampeners is not for your average DIY'er. There are special tools you need. A shock dyno helps to ensure everything is as it should be. If there is someone local who is well qualified they could probably do it. If not you probably have to send it off to Japan. If it is leaking oil it has probably lost it's gas pressure and will need new seals.

^ only if you live in the US. If not, you must go through the regional distributor

there is no way to tell if it is bad or not without removing it and trying to compress it (and watching it rebound as noted above).

PS - that dust boot is trashed. I would take it out of the car and inspect it, and the bump stop, as I suspect it's damaged as well
