CV joint? Anyone else have this problem?
OK so real quick, I've got an '03 GSR, moderate power mods (somewhere's around 340whp after tune) and just recently got cams installed (264i/272e awaiting tune again).Suspension is stock except for a hotchkiss rear sway bar and cusco type 1 and 2 braces.
I mention this because i know increased power, especially on an AWD car will start to cause stock parts to break.
I live down a dirt road with a few bumps and mounds in the road here and there. driving down my road the last 2 days I've heard this clunking noise in the rear right side, that originally sounded like my exhaust bouncing against the car, it's not very loud. after trying to simulate the noise again I found that it only makes the noise on wheel travel. I take it to my buddy's and his dad and i take a look at the rear suspension, on both sides, and find absolutely nothing as far as loose bolts or missing parts.
He said his first guess would be a CV joint or a blown shock, just based on the noise and how it happens. Is this a good point to start? I trust the guy, he works on porsches, corvettes and other "high end" cars so I think he would know a little. Has anyone had this problem?
Oh and yes I've searched and all I can find is front end stuff and people saying to replace end links, insulators, and rotating tires.
Thanks for reading!
