Anyone have pictures of roll bars installed in their vehicles? I am looking for one that is un-obtrusive. I would still like for people to be able to get in and out of the rear of the car if at all possible...

Any links? Warnings? Advice? If there is something out there that I can buy great, if not I'll make my own

thanks!

with a roll bar, the back seats are unusable. end of story. it's dangerous to be back there, at all.

ioport sells autopower roll bars (mine's on order) for not much more than sparco charges for a harness bar.

yeah, 400+ for a sparco harness bar is just silly.

hmm, if the rears are removeable, i don't wanna be in it.

the leg that goes to the rear tower, it nests on the inside of auto-power's designs, meaning, it can't come out.

And autopower already offers removable harness, and diagonals.

I wish ya best of luck, but for the prices autopower does them, and autopower is a well known name, and you can convert their bolt in kits to weld in, to a weld in cage, you've got your hands full

I couldn't put anyone in the back with a metal bar for them to hit, or anything else.

Quote: The rear bars follow the roof line there non removable. The removable bars go though the back seat so no bends which makes the bar legal,It may add a little weight on race day with 2 sets of rear bars but its alot safer than what the other bar your talking about.
Mine can be welded in also,it was designed for that.
hrm, interesting idea, very different. (the roofline idea never even thought to cross my mind)

and you're calling this a bar or a cage?

..and hopefully neither, or any of us will have to find out which is safer

best of luck.

gotcha, just sounded like almost a cage for the rear with maintaining the roofline.

I would definitely like to see some pics of what this looks like / and costs. sounds similar to what i was going to fab. I rarely have anyone in the back seat, maybe twice since ive owned the car. but i like to be able to have easy access to the seat when i go on trips. my old lady tends to take alot more **** than is required and the trunk just isnt big enough, and everyone knows that the better half has to think the car is convenient...

tig welded chromoly...do you purge the backside of the welds? or no?

I would really like to see some pictures of this if you can conjure some up. I would definitely buy if it was what I am looking for. I am an engineer, and get worked to death so sometimes I dont have the time to fab things up the way I would like to, unfortunately.
But, regardless, please post some pictures when you get some.

thanks again!

Quote: When I release the bar I will post some pictures.
I have a SCCA tech coming out to my shop next Monday to get the bar certified. If all goes well I'll post a release date for the Roll Bar and Fuel Cell.

Larry
Best of luck! I hope you get certified. I'm currently looking into roll bars, and if you can have passengers in the rear seat, yet be perfectly safe, I'd love to buy yours. Is it something that a customer could install himself, like the Autopower roll bar? Or would I have to drive my Evo to Brentwood to have it installed?
