I need help from the tire experts.

My situation is that I have two nails pulled from one tire and the nails were about 2 inches apart so he can't patch it up because the patches will overlap. I am credited one tire so I was wondering if I could get 245/45/17 for this tire and wait till the others wear out enough to replace them all to the same sizes. I mean is it okay since i'm running this tire on the rear? Thanks for your help.

id go 245/40/17...but anyway

I guess you could do that, depending on how much tread is left on the others. Itll be inda wierd nexty time you change the tires cause theyre all gonna wear a little differently. Id say just change two of em or something like that...

I wouldnt recommend putting one different size tire on an AWD car. You actually should replace all 4 tires together when you need to replace one so the tread depth is the same.

As for repairing that tire, they make different size patches. You should just get a larger patch and you will be fine. Check your auto parts store. At my last job we had 2 different size patches that we used.

Shouldn't put an odd ball size on one corner of any car let alone an AWD. Those are about 1/2" wider and taller than the oem size. That's enough diff to cause driving and differential issues.

+1 ... just buy the identical tire with the same size. Don't mess with tire sizes or you'll ruin your diffs which will end up costing more money in the long run.
