Brake Squeal?

Anybody's brakes still squealing like crazy? I have about 1500 miles and they still squeal when coming to a complete stop. I broke them in correctly and dealer says it will go away. Any thoughts? thanks

You might be expericencing some minor squeals, as stated in the Mitsubishi Tech book. "Due to high performance nature of this vehicle"

There are some threads around about Brake Squeal. You might wanna try to search.

They are supposed to squeal! The manual even warns us about that.

Almost every high performance brake pad set I've seen (or heard) used on a car squeal until they reach operating temps. PErformance brakes need more heat to get to their normal operating temp than non-performance varieties.

The Evo's brake pads are of a fairly high performance compound. So until you warm em up, they might squeal a bit.

SC~

The level of squeal also varies by how much force the pads have against the rotor. So if you're braking lightly up to a stop sign, they're going to squeal. If you jam on the brakes to near-threshold braking, they probably won't squeal (although your passengers and any cars behind you probably will ).

Mine squeal occasionally. Dealer indicated they have gotten in other Evos reporting this and it is indicative of the Brembos.

I found the fix to the brakes squealing. I do not have to clean my car very often with living in sunny Phoenix heh. Each week I give it a California duster treament and some Meguiars Detail Spray. I spray the wheels down with water and wheel cleaner and dry them down with a towel. So I began to notice my brakes squealing more and more, right. So I say WTF, I had noticed everytime I gave it a full car wash with the power hose, the squealing would stop for a week, so I began to really spray the wheels down each week, getting inside near the calipers real good. Bam, problem solved. No more squeak if you clean all the brake dust out with a good hosing of water and wheel cleaner. Thought I would pass it on.
