Kumho Ecsta SPT. They're not as stiff as the Advans but can't beat the price at $95 each.

Yeah, me too. The spt is a cheap and decent street tire.

After a lot of research, I decided to go with the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 245/45/18. I've put about 1,000 miles on them. They are very grippy and the sidewalls are nice and stiff. I'm not 100% sure if they make the tire in stock size though.

Falken Azenis Sport RT-615 255/40/17 on stock wheels work great and they are less than $140/ea from discounttiredirect.com. They are roughly equivalent in performance to the Advans. The Kumhos Ecsta MX's on 17's are not, as the turn-in is not as crisp. However, they do have good ultimate grip and I am contemplating them for my next tire which will be 265/35/18, and sidewall stiffness is of less import.

Those are also nowhere near the performance of the Advans. They are all-seasons.

kd yes but not kdw, kdw2, or kdws. the first is a low tread wear max performance tire but the rest are all seasons. i guess the op needs to clarify but i assume he wants close to advan performanc for cheaper. kd's are expensive and kdw's aren't in the same category.

These seem to be the most popular replacement tire. Just got a set myself. No complaints.

michelin pilot PS2's.......great in the dry, awesome in the wet.......of course the sidewalls are not compared to the the OEM advans, but on the street, they get the job done well.

Dunno what RE-01R's are selling for over in the US and the OP doesn't really say what sort of budget is 'budget' but it's pretty hard to equal the OEM advans even at an equivalent price so it's really more a question of how much less performance for how much less money. I've heard good things about the Falkens but I'm really very interested in the PS2's and will prolly replace the pirellis on my Sti with them when the time comes. Mr.Alonso seems to do so well on Michelins...

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A...I heard they perform very similar to Advans, better in the wet.

currently, they're on sale at the Tire Rack for 104 a tire, which is heavily discounted from aroudn 140 a tire. It's sitting in my garage and I'm mounting them on Saturday.

For all season tires, I purchased Pirelli PZero Nero M&S which is worth every penny in all-season performance.

Great bang for the buck would be Kumho's Ecsta MX. If you didn't want to spend a lot but still have a great dry max perf tire that would be the one. Used them myself and was really impressed.
