use a thin flat screwdriver carefully or use a spatulla? I'm sure you could do it without scratching the rotor, those rotors are pretty sturdy.

First step is to relax (helps with all car work). Next, get an assistant to help bleed the system (a little). Loosen the bleeder valve, have your assistant pump the brake pedal to release a little fluid. The piston should now recess into the caliper and you should have plenty of room to slide in the new (thicker) pad. Although I won't get into detail regarding the two man bleeding operation, make sure you don't let any air into the system. Good luck.

Did you take the cap off the reservoir? Ditto on the screwdriver.. just use a towel so you don't scratch anything.

what? how could i do that. there are 2 pistons extruded from the caliper and no pad to push them back in with! do you mean take the calliper off? that seems like alot of work to change pads.

frozen rotors

they are kryogenically frozen and slotted rotors if that makes a difference in there strength when it comes to prying on them.

First of all, don't let your stupid friend get in the car and press the brake pedal. Secondly go to home depot and buy a C clamp and compress the piston. The C clamp is cheap as hell

Yeah C-clamp or spreader will work too.

I just get a big flathead screwdriver put a towel around it and wedge it between the rotor and piston and pry. Or if the brake pad is still in you can use that to push the pistons.

LOL hopefully the piston didn't come all the way out or it will be a b!tch. Anyway, put half of the old pad between the piston that is already compressed and the rotor. Then, pry the piston up with a big flat-head screwdriver and who gives two effs about scratching the rotor Anyway, so when they are both about the height of the pad, slide the pad back where it was, then pry the pad against the caliper with the flat-head screwdriver again. Always works for me. Also, don't do both pads at once, do one at a time.
