HELP! BREMBO brake pad help
05 MR definetly knows what he is talking about. thank god for people like him. wow what an excellent evom guy. thank you so much for the call. if anyone stumbles across this thread take his advive. if your pistons are locked up dont pry on your rotors with a screw driver dont take your calipers off just bleed the side that is locked up. thanks again 05 MR you got me the hell out of brainerd!!!!
If you're doing it by yourself you could just loosen the bleeder screw, depress the pistons, and tighten the screw while fluid is till coming out. This way you won't let any air into the system, and you still attain the necessary movement of the pisons. Always use a bleeder bottle if possible because brake fluid is highly corrosive. It eats paint very quickly.
Glad you got it. I think some of the advice on these forums comes from people whose idea of expertise is: "my brothers best friend said to". I'm not a big believer in this type. The posting IN THIS FORUM on brake pad replacement (How To’s) by 500whp (Silver Vendor?) tells you to remove the caliper (steps 5 & 6). Why in the hell would you do this for pad replacement? The How To posting on pad replacement by Jemm is pretty good though. If I get around to it one of these days, I’ll post the exact list of tools needed to do most of the regular maintenance jobs (my track travel tools), as worked out by my fabulous Snap-On rep and myself. These tools are much more specialized and specific than what you see in most of these post’s. As an example, we came up with a nice socket with a notched groove for removing the oil drain plug on Evo’s (MR & RS) with the oil temp wire sticking out.
Glad you made it home and I could help.
