EVO and STi brakes question

Hey everyone, have a quick question. Do EVOs and STis, share the same brake pads or are they different? I was told that they do, can someone confirm this.

It's extremely plausible. It would be smarter for Brembo to make one pad for both vehicles financially. Do you mean the pads, or are you not knowledgable in the braking department and mean the calipers?

I mean the pads. My buddy has an Sti and needs new pads. I have a set of Hawks pads for my evo and was just wondering if they are the same so that he can get my.

they are the same. I use Project mu pads and the box marked WRX STI and it fit my evo just fine. Also for some BRAND, both STI and Evo pads have the same part numbers. they are interchangable

The only difference is in the thickness. As far as I am aware, this applies mostly to stock pads only. Project Mu make them the same thickness. I think Ferrodo actually makes them at different thicknesses but most shops stock the one that fits both.

The rears are the same.

I always thought that would look cool...

On a side note my xp-12/xp-10 carbotechs pads are the same for STI.

Yes, Hawk even has the same part numbers for both cars. Thickness is the same. However they're not the same pads as the Brembo equipped Z's and G35 coupes...even though the calipers appear to be the same.

That is the right answer.

In Hawk they are the same number for both which is what most aftermarket companies do.

The Z does share the same rears as the EVO and STi - the front one is similar but much smaller.

Interesting that the REAR pad for the EVO/STi/350Z is the FRONT pad for the Lotus Elise. That surely says something about vehicle weight and balance etc.

Nope. I looked into this awhile back as I have a friend that with an 05 CGM STi that doesn't like the gold. You can make them work, but it's not a simple 'plug and play' setup. I think I started a thread a few months back on it.... maybe on nasioc (same userid).

Edit, found my old thread:

The EVO and STI have different piston sizes and will throw off you brake bias. Please do not try and swap them unless you have a front rear bias adjustment valve and a good knowledge on how brakes work
