Optimum tire pressure

I just replaced my wheels so I have a question for the experts, what's the optimum tire pressure for Falken Azenis RT-615 in 245/40-18? I'm riding on stock suspension on a 2005 Evo VIII SSL (in case it matters).
Thanks.

Uh huh. Actually lowering PSI creates more contact patch. So 35 psi wouldn't be "max contact patch". 34 would give more, and 33 even more, etc. Look at how much contact patch you get out of a flat tire

lol...f-dub +1

And go in 2 psi steps, or you could stretch the tire too quickly (from my roommate - works for a national tire store)....he doesnt know about presure...he'd have to check tomorrow.

the factory recomends 32 fr 29 r, i run 35 fr and 32 r in my IX and ran the same pressure in my 03 8. I find that to be the best for everyday driving, but like it was stated you have to play with it a lttle to see what feels right for you.

After doing my own testing using a Pyrometer on all 4 tires (Falken RT-615's 245/45/17) I came up with 37 Front 33 Rear for cold pressure. These were the pressures that gave me a center tire temp that was the average of the inside and outside temps. The stock pressures aren't enough for these RT's, the outside & inside temps are always higher than the center with the stock recommended pressures.

I do believe Falken has a chart that lists all the cars and pressures for street/track with stock tire/rim size

My stock tire pressure make the middle of the front tires wear faster meaning.... Over inflated!

The problem here is that we're trying to make an aftermarket tire to handle as close to the stock Advan as possible. Now if Advans where a little bit cheaper the story would be different.

I'm running the recommended tire pressure on my RT-615 and the steering response is not close to stock in any way, so I think I need to up the pressure. There are plenty of people here running 245/40-18 RT-615s so I'm sure someone already found the optimum tire pressure. If this is happening on RT-615s which are known for having one of the stiffest sidewalls for our cars, I don't want to think how hard would be to calibrate other tires.

Well, I've been playing with the tire pressure this morning and I have to admit it, no "affordable" tires will handle like Advans. Right now I'm at 41/37 front/rear and still the difference in steering response is noticeable. The tire states 50 PSI max., should I try more than 41 PSI?

I find that very difficult to believe, unless you decided to finally show some respect for the reader by using your shift key where appropriate and delineating the text.
