yeah they should be okay for drag racing. I've never tried them at dragraces, but I've track my car and they are proven to be decent for about 4-5 hotlaps at streets of willow

While they are super stickey, they also have really stiff sidewalls; great for turning, bad for launching.

If you want to focus on drag racing, get some drag radials.

Doesn't having AWD defeat a lot of tire spin?!? The whole point of a fast launch is having more grip and less tire spin as you launch. I mean I understand if you are making a lot of power at the wheels and break traction with even the most sticky street tire, but for most EVOs making 300WHP sticky streets tires should be fine to take to the drag strip. The Azenis should be fine ...

You don't need tires that are good for drag racing. You have an Evo that doesn't have a crapload of power, so you can launch on anything...snow tires, all-seasons, drag radials, slicks, autocross tires, road race tires, whatever.

I highly doubt that you are going to be at the level of drag racing where your tires matter, especially when you're trying to be so cheap on the most important part of the Evo's handling abilities: the tires. The RT-615s are not designed for drag racing for the exact reason spdracerut gave you (stiff sidewall), but that's the exact same case with the stock Advans. The stock Advans have an even STIFFER sidewall, but look how many people have hit 1.6s on the stock tires while running 11s and 12s. The RT-615 is an excellent, cost-effective street tire that can be used for occasional racing of all sorts (drag, auto-x, circuit). I love mine, and you can see them on my magazine cover shot. UNfortunately, rally-x is NOT a form of racing where they perform well, haha.
