Is it safe replace 2 tires on an Evo. at a time or is it bad for the center differential?

The general rule is to replace all 4. But my understanding is if they are with in 2/32 depth diff and the exact same tire you will be ok. I just went through this debate not that long ago when I got one bad tire from a flat and the rest of the tires had 5 to 6/32 left. I played it safe and replaced all four.

I would recommend replacing all 4 if you have the money. On AWD vehicles you are supposed to change all 4 tires at once. Your tires might bald unevenly because of alignment. Also, once you get all 4 you can get an alignment check.

damn the bad luck..... I have practically new tires and only need to replace one. The problem is they have been discontinued. I suppose I will just buy 4 new ones.

IF the others are brand new, and IF the tire wear is very minimal, I dont think you are going to see extreme tire diameter differences with only 2 new tires. This is assuming the circumference of the tires is basically the same, which it should be. Im sure there are actually a lot of owners out there that havent rotated their tires forever that have more than 2/32 difference in tread.

come to think of it, its been a whole autox season on streets for me, maybe its time I rotate......
