from what i understand , bolting a brace underneath the car doesnt do anything. the guys at muellerized told me not to waste my money on any sort of bracing (even though im getting JIC coilovers, rear sway bar and trailing arm bushings) because the stock bracing is enough and aftermarker stuff really wont make any difference other than leaving u with less money in your bank account. just relaying the info i heard from one of the best evo suspension tuners around. if i understand correctly , if you want to stiffen the chassis further, which u dont need to, youre either gonna want to roll cage it, or spot weld specific points on the chassis. also, i think there are aftermarket downpipes that clear the 2 stock chassis braces. i think WORKS makes one that clears stock bars, and im pretty sure some other companies do too. check it out.

The WORKS Croxx Plate II increases chassis rigidity and will clear most 3" downpipes. It also adds some underbody protection "just in case."

Brace Yourself

I haven't looked into any aftermarket braces, but I did run into the problem of the OEM braces clearing my TurboXS TBE. I ended up having some old O2 Sensor bungs welded to the bars to give me added clearance. They just as rigid as they were before but now they clear my DP sufficiently.
After that, all I needed were some 40mmx10x1.25 bolts to secure them to the stock nuts that are welded to the frame.

I have all the Tanabe (sp) braces on my car, and it cleared my HKS dp with no issues. I also at one point in time had a 3" dp from another vendor, that cleared with no issues.

I noticed a significant difference once I installed the undercarrage braces. The car felt a lot more responsive to steering input, as well as a bit flatter in the turns.

That particular picture is of our original Croxx Plate and fits well with the OEM and a few other pipes (mostly 70mm or less). The second version (the only one we currently sell) has a larger opening and is slightly thicker in order to accomodate larger diameter pipes while retaining overall rigidity.

Just some more input -

06 MR with ACD and Perrin 3" DP will easily rub on stock front brace, after it heats up it will vibrate on second OE brace.
