Question d.pipe: change lower braces?

In the process of ordering a PERRIN downpipe, I would like to ask if the lower brace arms have to be changed or will the original ones fit anyway? (RMR's are ok to replace? any other brand recommended?)

Thank you,

Wael

I have a 3" RsR downpipe thats wrapped, and it rattled against those lower arm brace's. I ordered the RMR peice and have been very happy. TONS of clearance, and the feel is there...minumal but noticable!

sup i sent you some info over pm but i guess u didnt read it. i installed the

perrin dp about a week, it does touch the brace slightly. you can pull the

brace down and bend it just a little bit, if not just go get yourself an aftermarket

brace made for aftermarket downpipes. ez and simple.

Type SS.. thx for ur PM but i really didnt see it till now..

I guess I'll get an aftermarket brace in fear of having to bend the original ones for clearance and get sceptical about them affecting the car's stability.. (the 'tennis racket syndrome' : it's smthg in the handle, the fitment, the wires, the ball.. but never ur wrist! if u know what i mean!)

Thanks for replies!

Just put washers where you bolt up the brace to make it sit lower...

Some downpipes fit the factory braces. Use a washer for a spacer. Cheaper then buying a new brace.

Fitting is one thing but engine movement is another. My DP has recently started to bang against the braces due to engine movement. Spacers on the braces reduced it but not entirely. Plan on throwing in a front motor mount (stiffer) and also installed the Cusco I and II asap.

Most downpipes clear the brace closest to the exhuast hanger. Its the Brace closest to the front of the car that they say has to be spaced out. I have the perrin downpipe but havent installed it yet. I am waiting for the test pipe and I'll be all set. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can install both cusco v1 and v2 at the same time. v1 is for only the first brace and will clear the downpie. v2 incororates both braces into 1 and also clears aftermarket downpipes and that is the brace I have on order.

I just did some research and It looks like you can use Cusco v1 and v2 together which I was unaware of. I guess I'll have to order that too!

FWIW, the TurboXS downpipe comes with everything you need: new donut gasket, new spring-wrapped DP hardware, and machined spacers to keep the lower tie bars.

Yes, at least my RSR uses stock spring bolts.
