Lower H Brace

Before someone gets smart, yes I did a search.
Has anyone installed a lower 4 or 6 point brace
whether it be a Cusco , Mines, Tanabe, GAB, or a Ebay copy....

Just wanted to know IF it will clear a 3 inch downpipe.
I am planning buyng one, but don't know which one. My main concern it fitment
and will clear the downpipe thanks

If you do have one, I do not care what brand, even though you bought it from EBAY. please post a pic. Did you feel it helped steering response. Thanks

I've got the Cusco Type I and Type II braces. I think that clearance depends on which DP you choose. Just as an FYI, if you have a ACD car, the Type I brace makes it a PITA to reach the ACD fill hole.

Someone got to have done this upgrade

Can the install be done by just removing the inner control arm bolt
and positioning the unit with out affecting alignment. I guess it would not since the adjustment is on the strut mount.

please chime in and comment

Yes, you can do it by just removing the control arm bolts... but the passenger bolt could not come out without the oil filter being removed. So plan it around an oil change.

My Type1 clears fine, but I put a spacer under the Type 2 - I have an 05 with a Helix 3". It was touching without the spacers (I could still put the bar on, but I'd rather not have it clanking and rubbing).

Depends on the DP and brace, every one is different.

I have the Cusco Type I and II and a works 76mmDP and it clears, but I put some thin (5mm) spacers on the Type II bar to be safe. Not sure if they are necessary, but I didn't feel like fookin with it a bunch of times.

Max Power is right about the Oil Filter on the Type I bar, total pain in the ***, plus the bolts on my car seemed to be tightened by the hand of God himself!

Thanks MAXPOWER, I have an 03 so the car is not fitted with ACD, but i currently have a UR Downpipe but only a 2.5, this was the only one available then, I will be upgrading to a 3" that is why I am in search for the best fitting DP. Or i can always
flatten the are where it goes over the lower brace (don't really want to do that) but the factory have a flat section just to clear the bars.

Thanks JBROWN also for following up on this. I think I waould like to do the Type 2 and 1 but I don't know if that is overkill...

But looking at the picture http://www.gruppe-s.com/Evo/evosus/cus_brace.jpg
if I don't do the Type I, I will have to use the stocker.... what do you guys think
about this http://www.gruppe-s.com/Evo/evosus/t...owfrontbar.jpg or this

I have that bar, it gives ample room for aftermarket downpipes.

ive heard that the chassis bracing is pretty worthless. ive spoken to the guys at muellerized on many diff occassions and they are pretty much completly against any sort of chassis bracing. they say that the stock front strut tower brace and bottom chassis braces will do the job just fine even after installing a coilover kit ... and im pretty sure they know their stuff ... so if u have extra money to toss around go ahead, but from what i understand , you shoudl spend that 100+ dollars on something else.

if anything maybe leave the stock front strut tower brace and bottom front chassis braces, and add a stock mitsu rear strut brace & RS bar like im gonna do. even though u dont really need it, i figure if the front comes with braces from mitsu, then the back should also have some stock mitsu bracing just for good measure. but swapping bars that already come from the factory, again, i hear is worthless. let me know how u like it if u do decide to do it

Thanks for your input, but did you read my first post
I am going with a bigger DP, I believe an H brace compared to 2 bars running
parallel to each other will be different in terms of stiffness. Why would the people at MUELLERIZED be against stiffening the chassis? But almost all japanese TUNERS double weld the weld joints and use more bracing in the vehicle to improve chassis response. Correct me if I am wrong
