Lug key removal-Be carefull! Help!!!

Just want to share.
And vent.
So I lost my lug key. Went to discount tire to get the locks removed.
Driving out and making a u turn. AND IN THE MIDDLE OF 3 LANES it stops!!!!!
No backward no forward just as you would have your ebrake angaged all of a sudden. Had to musle it through and broke something. Was driving home with weird sound from the back.
Back in my garage- when they were removing the locks they broke one of the studs which went through inside the disc and got jammed with the ebrake unit i guess.
So now I am praying that my rear diff is safe.

What do you guys think?
I am going to the discount tire tomorrow morning but would i be able to prove anything?

well even if you buy the lock key, you still need to register it with Mitsu. B/c there's like 7 different types of keys...

This sounds like what happens on Mercedes fairly often. They have shorter lug bolts for the spare tire/rim and sometimes people use the regular length ones by accident and it goes all the way into the parking brake assembly and destroys it.

By the way, if you go to the dealer, they should have a master set that they can use to just take your locks off for you.

Moral of the story, when your car breaks, don't "muscle it through." And yes, depending on how far you drove it with the ebrake locked up, you could have damaged your diff.
