cutting out fender lips

any cons in doing this?
Ive seen some rolled fender lips that look horrible
I bought a roller but dont want to risk creasing the body panels
I want to fit 275s so I might cut the lips out
anyone advise against this?
what are the reasons?
I tried rolling out the fronts but I think the aluminum fenders
have a memory as they didnt stretch outwards at all...
i guess Garage HRS are in the future for the fenders

The lip is what gives the fender a lot of its rigidity. You should be able to trim a little bit, but leave some meat on there.

Personally i would just roll them. If you take your time they should come out fine.....

Take your time and use a heat gun so the paint doesn't crack while you're rolling the fenders.

You might want to use a heat gun while doing this. As for 275's, you gonna need to cut them out. I would use a nibbler or air saw. These would work great. Make sure to use some masking tape for the outline and to protect your paint.

I have 255's on 10" rims. I wanted to go 265 but need more spacer in the back. 275's would be even harder. Fender lip removal is going to be key. These tires get expensive and scuffing or slicing isnt an option.

I don't know how others have done this, but with my car the biggest rubbing issue, once I had rolled the rear fender, came from the bumper to body screw in the rear wheel wells. I think I placed another screw back a bit and removed the stock one so I could cut the flange off.

555R I think you should take this guys offer, and practice rolling on his car. Don't charge him tho. If it doesn't work out, you can start cutting your fenders. olo

the rear fenders have two layers of material layed on top of each other, thats why when most people roll they get indentations in the outter fender.

We roll the front, using a roller and a heat gun, and cut the rear.

3m underbody works awesome to finish the job.
