I have 18x8.5 +30 Volk TE37s with 245/40-18s and they fit just fine with my coilovers. This is with a Evo8, but I doubt the 9 is much different.

I am debating the same thing right now. I like a wide tire i am about to mount a set of 255/40/17 ps2's so i might just get a new set of wheels or get 18's and use my stocks for track and drag days

17's for the track, 18's for street...
