This isnt some civic or integra. Its an evo ment to perform, the biggest you want to go is 18 inch. The bigger the wheel the heavier it will be the higher up your evo will sit, you will have to get such a low profile tire, and you will have some rubbing issues. Go for 17s or 18s.

Also, 19" volks are only a bad idea if your major concern is perfromance, if you're not running 1/4 miles every weekend, and you like the look of the 19" and can live with the reduced ride quality you go for it. It's your car, you choose what you want to get out of it.
Think about it this way, it's an evo, you could throw the heaviest 20" rims on it and it would still be a very fast car. If you want a pimp car then you go for it.
Persoanlly I wouldn't go bigger than 18's, but only because of teh rid quality,

Well think about it you have stock 17 inch wheels , you are adding an extra inch in height when you put on 19 inch wheels. You will have to compensate to the larger rim with a smaller profile tire, but the smaller you go the worse its going to ride, and one pothole and bye bye $3000 rims. Go with 18s man they will look awesome, trust me.

Sorry, so why is ride height higher, if you get bigger rims you have to get lower profile tires. That's just the way it works.
If you don't your speedo and odometer will be totally wrong as well.

But you can only go so low with the tire, ive seen Evos before with 19s they looked silly in my opinion and had low profile tires, but still sat up higher than mine. which was stock. I am just saying what ive seen.

Ride quality aside, if you choose the correct size tire your car will NOT sit higher. In general 19s weigh more than 18s, but 19" Volks weigh less than a lot of 18s people are running on there Evos. There are a lot more high performance tires availible for 18s, so if your going racing or are planning a track day you might want to choose an 18" wheel. Bottom line get what you like.

Except for "bling"/"so i can say i have them" factor there is absolutely no good reason to go larger than 18."
As you go bigger:
- wheels and tires become more expensive, initially and to replace. unless you're a poser who never really drives their evo, this will add up and you'll soon realize that you could have had several sets of the smaller size for the difference in price.
- wheel and tire choices become more limited
- your serious performance tire choices will become even more limited or even nonexistant in 19"; in terms of availability AND what will fit
- your acceleration will suffer
- your ride quality will suffer
- your car will most likely have more unsprung weight
- you will most likely decrease your traction where it counts, under load, despite your increased contact patch (the only good thing about bigger tires, but diameter is not as beneficial as width)
- your brakes will need to work harder
- your fuel economy will suffer
- your speedo and odometer will most likely be off
- they will be easier to mess up on the street or on the track
- real racers will laugh when they see your car
- ricers will jock you and it's annoying
- thieves will also jock your car... hard
- unless you are filthy rich, you most likely have other areas on your car to spend that money on that would benefit you in better ways. the sad fact is, many people could have gotten better 17 or 18" wheels and tires but in pursuit of trivial diameters they sacrifice the quality, performance, and fitment of their wheels and tires.
high performance small > mediocre huge
so there you have over 10 reasons why its a bad/stupid/poser idea for 99% of street cars. i could go on, but i think it's pretty self explanitory why i love 17". no offense to anyone on 19", that's just my opinion, to each their own.

my friend has some bad *** 19's on is 04 they look awesome. First month he had them he hit a pot hole and bent the lip pretty bad (because he had such a low profile)
He has lowering springs, and has rubbing issuses with the rims. specially when cornering and when he has any passangers in the back. Hes taking the springs off and getting coil overs because of that.
But i think the above post covered all the CONS of the 19"

Thanks for the replies guys, I saw some pics of evo's with 19's on coilovers and they looked great. But Ive seen some with 18's and they still looked pretty good, but I guess not a big enough difference if ride quality suffers more. Ill post pics of my ride when I put the wheels on
