need good all season tire for ice/snow

I live not too far from KC and here we had two ice storms a week apart and now the streets are snow covered. So, saying a dedicated snow car is overkill for KC is wrong. If it only gets slick once in the winter and you wreak your 30k car, and it is a rally car that is supposed to excel in these conditions, well, enough said.

Ok guys, I've limited my selection to three, but am tending to lean toweards the cheaper- so the pirelli's and toyo's aren't on there.
ContiExtreme - $118 per tire

Khumo ASX - $88 a tire

Sumitomo HT+R - $85 a tire

I haven't encountered any snow/ice yet, but I'm very happy with the Avon Tech M550 all seasons. They are very quiet on the highway, and have a respectfully stiff sidewall. At $108 per tire, they are a good value for a solid A/S tire.
Obviously, they are no Advans though...

nope just one set of wheels. I don't really want to run the all seasons "all season" unless they just flat out rock. But I'd likely switch back to a summer tire in like April or so.

If you're looking for a cheap but worthwhile all season tire set, look towards the Kumho Ecsta ASX, Continental ContiExtreme, or Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S. Of course these will not give you the snow/ice traction of dedicated snow tires but they're hell of a lot safer than summer only tires in those conditions.
I personally use Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires but they are quite pricey.

I've been watching this forum for a while and thanks so much for everyone posting their tire recommendations for winter.
Here in Colorado Springs we have had so much snow this year that I couldn't even get out of my subdivision several times with the Stock Advans on the slightest of incline. I slapped on a set of Kuhmo ASX's and it is a night and day difference. I can actually go places now! I did get into them on a tight corner the other day at full throttle and the rear end got loose on me which of course NEVER happens on the Advans. The ride is much softer now too, kind of a nice change, at least with all the potholes around here in the winter. It will be back to the Advans this summer though.

Thanks foir your experience, I think I'm sold on the ASX's. Seeing as I currently have Khumo ECSTA SPT's now and love them (for summer) - might as well stick with khumo. I'm expecting a $350 check next week. I'll order as soon as I get the check and then take them over to wherever to get mounted and balanced.
