Good luck, sounds like the same problem I had...took me weeks/months to get replacement parts from Megan. If it weren't for zeus hounding them I don't know if I ever would have gotten them, can't comment on if the top hats fixed the noise yet though as I've put my stuck struts + springs back on.

The rears can't be tightened easily. Turning the top nut turns the whole shaft, nothing tightens. I had a horribly clunk/rattle with my Megans, but it was just the fornt top hat. The cold caused the nut to back off about 1 turn. tightened it, and it's silent now.

One of my rears has a light clunk/rattle, but I haven't gotten in there to find out what. There's no oil leaking, nothing visibly loose, I think it's just the top hat again but I need to find a way of preventing the shaft from moving when I turn the nut. I'm nearly 100% certain that's the problem.

Take out the adjustment knob, there is a space for an allen key up top and that'll stop the whole thing from spinning.

Hehe, cool. I hate the typical "oh it's normal, mine does it." response..

I'll see if I can tighten up the rears tophat bearings today. That's on my priority list.

Any of you guys having the loosening issue considered using blue loctite? I am pretty sure it will prevent that bolt from loosening up anymore from the cold.

thought about it, but I wouldn't want any loctite dripping down into the spherical bearing right underneath it. Once they're tightened, they're good, I've had mine a year now and they've come loose once, it's been solid since.

you shouldnt have to use loctite... the nut is designed to lock on its own. it should have urethane top that acts as a lock, you guys prob. werent into the top section so no locking. ya dig

err.... no. The threaded portion of the shaft is pretty long, backing the nut off 1 or 2 turns, hell, even 10 full turns, the nylock portion is still engaged.

I have a feeling the spherical bearing nut coming loose is caused by break-in or drastic temperature change.

well than loctite it is! or mech. wire if it keeps happening. if you have as many threads as you say throw another on top as a jam nut

i was under the impression that there was still some assy. required after the kit was recieved... and everyone was jus slappin em in partialy un-assy.

Nope, they come fully assembled from the factory. The nut is aiready torqued, but seems that it may come loose after a few thousand miles. It's not a recurring event that has to be retightened over and over, once it's been tightened after breakin, it stays put.
