Carbotech vs Ferodo

After I read a lot of posts, seems that DS2500 is one of the best choices for street, light track.

I talked with an Evo owner and he told me that DS2500 squeals, leave pad deposits if pushed hard and pedal feel is not so good. He told me that the XP8 is a better choice.

Is there someone here that can comment DS2500 vs XP8?

Thanks

I haven't used the XP8 but I do use the DS2500 and I think its is the best compromise brake pad for street, auto-x and track use. If you bed it in properly with the required shims, it doesn't squeel and the performance on the track is much better than stock.

Isn't the XP8 a track only pad?

I have used the 2500 on the street and the XP12f/XP10r on the track.

I never realized how squishy the 2500's where until I drove on the Carbotechs.

That said, the 2500 is an AWESOME street or light track pad. The Carbotechs were scary when cold and take a LOT of heat to really bite hard.

Granted the XP8 is completely different so I'm not really answering your question, just trying to provide the info I have.

Hope it helps.

I dont have any experience with Carbotech, but I've used Ferodo DS2500's and DS3000's, and both were great. Keep in mind though that DS2500's are not a track pad, I never understood what "light track use" meant. Since when do you drive lightly on a track?

If you drive more on the street, the DS2500s will serve good.

If you do a lot of track days, it doesn't sound like you do, then you'll want something that can handle more heat. The Carbotechs come to mind but are less street friendly than the DS2500.

this is something i've really been interested in as these two pads get rave reviews frequently but i've never seen them compared.

On Carbotech webiste it is stated that:

If you have had another manufacturers brake pads on those same rotors; then you will ABSOLUTELY have to replace or resurface (turn) those rotors before installing the Carbotech brake pads.
So, it is neccesary to get also second set of rotors, to use those pads, which sounds like too much trouble for just occasional trackday. I didn't find such requierment by Ferodo.
